Climate Neutral Certified
Issuing Organization:
Climate Neutral
Label purpose:
Climate Neutral Certified is a label awarded to companies that have measured, reduced, and offset their entire carbon footprint, thus achieving net-zero emissions. The certification aims to encourage businesses to take responsibility for their climate impact by implementing comprehensive carbon management strategies and supporting climate action.

Certification Criteria:

To achieve Climate Neutral Certified status, companies must complete a three-step process: measure their carbon footprint for the previous year across scopes 1, 2, and 3 emissions; reduce emissions by implementing efficiency improvements and sustainable practices; and offset remaining emissions through verified carbon credits that support renewable energy, reforestation, or other projects reducing carbon dioxide or removing it from the atmosphere.

Geographical Coverage:

To achieve Climate Neutral Certified status, companies must complete a three-step process: measure their carbon footprint for the previous year across scopes 1, 2, and 3 emissions; reduce emissions by implementing efficiency improvements and sustainable practices; and offset remaining emissions through verified carbon credits that support renewable energy, reforestation, or other projects reducing carbon dioxide or removing it from the atmosphere.

Target Industries/Segments:

The certification is applicable to businesses of all sizes and industries, including but not limited to manufacturing, retail, technology, and services, aiming for a broad impact across the global economy.

Certification Process:

Companies begin by measuring their carbon footprint with the help of Climate Neutral's software tools and guidance. They then identify and implement reduction strategies and purchase verified carbon credits to offset their remaining emissions. After completing these steps, companies submit their certification for review by Climate Neutral, and upon approval, they can use the Climate Neutral Certified label for one year.

Certificate Validity:

Certification is valid for one year, requiring companies to annually measure, reduce, and offset their emissions to maintain their certified status. This ensures ongoing commitment to carbon management and continuous improvement.

Benefits for Consumers/Producers:

For consumers, the Climate Neutral Certified label provides assurance that products or services come from companies taking decisive action to eliminate their climate impact. For companies, certification demonstrates environmental leadership, enhances brand value, and can differentiate products in a market increasingly concerned with sustainability.

Sustainability Impact:

Climate Neutral Certified drives positive environmental impact by encouraging companies to directly address their carbon emissions. It promotes the transition to a low-carbon economy, supports projects that reduce or remove greenhouse gases, and inspires broader corporate responsibility for climate action, contributing to global efforts to combat climate change.
